2015

I thought it would be fun to look back on the 2015 year and see some of the highlights of our year.

This is a picture heavy post. I'm glad I take lots of pictures all year and have a blog to record all the fun, and not so fun, things that happen in our lives.

 

 Remember that time I lost my mind and decided to put together this huge puzzle? That was how our year started off. We glued that puzzle, framed it and stuck it on my boys bedroom wall.

 

I had my first article and more published in a magazine. I am still writing for the Molly Green Magazine, and I suggest that all homesteading/homeschooling people subscribe to it!

Casting Crowns Concert and Tobacco Festival Weekend

Whew, what a busy weekend! Friday morning started with me deciding that I needed a desk area in our bedroom. I went right to switching things around in there. I guess I wanted to feel more professional or something. I do need to get an office chair because this one isn't cutting it.

 

Then I made a reading corner in Evan's bedroom. He loves to read and does it almost all day some days.

Cementary Tour, Hunting, and Yogurt

My friend and I were discussing my blog the other day and I was telling her that rarely does someone comment on my blog. Do people like it? Love it? Wish it would disappear? She gave me advice and said that if I started blogging everyday that they would start leaving comments. I told her that my life hardly seems exciting enough to write about everyday and that we don't really do much around here. Wouldn't you know after making that statement we have been so busy around here doing stuff that I can hardly keep up telling all my friends and family about it on the blog!

 

I was excited to use my blog the other day to answer a question about a project we had done this spring. I realized that journaling my family life can be fun and rewarding to look back at.

 

First, let's talk about my weight. Folks, I am struggling to get motivated again. Wednesday morning the scale was at 175. That's a half pound lighter than the week before. My lowest I reached this summer was 171. I have been weighing in at 176.5 last two mornings. Tracking is my biggest issue. I have been doing my couch to 5K training but I fail to track after breakfast most days. I know that it doesn't matter how much I run if I can't get a grip on what I am putting in my mouth. Tracking calories the rest of my life seems like such a drag. Being overweight seems like a bigger drag. So, here's to trying to track this week for realz and see some progress!

 

Okay, now on to the fun stuff like hunting.

Russellville Historic Homes Tour and a Pet Show

Yesterday started out very rainy and dreary. My motivation for the day was lacking right from the beginning. We had a late start at school and then we proceeded to have a total meltdown over English. We persevered and I think he was starting to understand how to diagram sentences better when we were through. Homeschooling is definitely not easy some days!

This week is the annual Tobacco Festival for our county. They have lots of activities that happen throughout the week. Since our morning started out so rough, we decided to head to the Historical Homes Tour that they were having a 2:00 p.m. yesterday. I love history and living down here there is a lot of old history. Logan County is pretty much awesome.

This is the Convention House of the Confederacy. It was built in 1820. It was the site of the Confederate Convention held in November 1861. Delegates from forty-three Kentucky counties met to form a provisional government for the Confederate State of Kentucky. Russellville was capital of the Confederacy for three days. Two-thirds of Logan County considered themselves confederates during the Civil War even though Kentucky was considered a Union State. They were never able to break away like they wanted.
