Evan woke up late yesterday and so we snuggled on the couch for awhile before starting our day. I went for my run after the rain cleared out and then made myself presentable for public appearance.
We worked on school until about 12:30. We are learning about ancient Egypt right now in his schooling and that's pretty neat. The pyramids of Giza are fascinating to me. I think that ancient civilizations were more advanced than we give them credit for.
At 12:30 we had to leave and go to our local blood drive. My friend Louise works the blood drives and is always looking for people to donate. I am not a very good donator. I have been known to be seen with my feet raised above my head after donating and my veins are small so it seems like it takes forever to fill my bag. They had to keep pumping up my blood pressure cuff and adjusting things to try and make it flow faster yesterday. I was even squeezing the ball more than they told me to. Obviously, giving blood is not necessarily a fun thing to do but it is something that is necessary. I was sad to learn yesterday that they had a goal of 80 people and as of 2:30 they had only had 30 donators. In a town of more than 6000 people I am sure we could do better than that!
They always serve you a meal to eat after donating and I was able to sit down and enjoy friend time with some fellow church members. It was like a little Stevenson's Chapel section of blood donators. One of my favorite things to do is sit around and visit with people. I love to learn about them and hear their stories. I even found out that one of my friends and I have the same taste in our love of classical country music! Who doesn't love them some John Conlee and Don Williams?
After the blood drive we came home and Glen cooked us dinner. He is awesome. He works all day and then comes home and cooks us dinner. It should be the other way around and sometimes it is. He really enjoys cooking and doesn't mind doing it. He is more of a creative cook and I am a follow the recipe kind of girl.
After dinner we went out on the deck to shoot our bows. I knew I needed to practice my 30 yard shot. I am so thankful I did because apparently something was bumped and moved on my bow and I was shooting way lower than normal. I am so glad that buck didn't give me a shot this weekend! The bow is fixed all up and shooting great now. I need to up my poundage and start shooting up to 40 yards but right now I think I will stick to maximum of 30 yards for this season.
That's all the happenings around here yesterday. I should have taken some pictures but I didn't think about it. I need to get better at that.
Jenn
